When a thermal transfer overprinter runs at high speed, it’s easy for small issues to turn into missing or wrong codes. In daily production, this often happens because the ribbon isn’t tight enough, the printhead gets dusty, or the film moves faster than the printer can keep up. Just like a pen skipping on paper, the coder can “skip” if the setup isn’t right.

To fix this, check the ribbon path and make sure it’s smooth and properly aligned. Clean the printhead regularly, especially if the environment is dusty. Slow the speed slightly or adjust print settings so the machine has enough time to finish each code. Also, make sure sensors are placed where they can clearly detect every package.
With a little routine care—tightening the ribbon, cleaning parts, and tuning the speed—you can keep your coder running smoothly and avoid frustrating print mistakes.
